How to Disable Nest Protect While Cooking

We have a Nest Protect Gen. 2 in our entryway and our bedroom. Every time I cook steaks, they both go off. And sometimes they won't even let me silence them after a couple minutes. How can I disable them while cooking?

Nest protect flashing blue in chiming noise
