Nest Protect chirping - no apparent reason

I have 3 nest protect alarms in the house, and one of them has started chirping for 5 times, every minute or so. According to the app, everything is fine. I disconnected the device and the chirping still continued coming from the ceiling, even without the device attached to the electrical wires. Could someone please advice how to stop the chirping? Hey araph,

I'm sorry for the delay and trouble. What type of Nest Protect do you have? Could you tell us the status light of it? Nest Protect will continuously chirp when its batteries are critically low and when it has expired. The chirp acts as a reminder for you to take action (and is required in order to comply with safety regulations). In both of these situations, Protect will chirp continuously until the issue has been taken care of. However, it uses different chirp patterns depending on what’s going on.
