after the earlier support was dropped we upgraded to a 4th gen Nest therm. I wired it the same as the other—our previous worked fine and would heat the house.
We’re in south Florida so we don’t often get low temps but this week it’s cold. Heat won’t come on—there’s a rapid clicking from the unit and an n416 error. Fan kicks on but it’s just blowing in cold air.
I have pictures but can’t figure out how to post them.
I have a white wire to w1. Yellow to y1. Black to G. Red to Rc.
thanks in advance.

Hello @Fenzinna,
Thank you so much for posting in this community. I understand that you have a Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) that isn't heating and is displaying error N416, especially since you're using the same wiring as the previous thermostat. Don't worry, I'm here to help. No worries; I’m here to help.
The error code N416 indicates that the Nest Thermostat has detected an overvoltage or overcurrent within your HVAC system. For the thermostat to function properly, the voltage should ideally stay between 24V and 30V. In this case ensure that the wiring installation is properly connected.
This error can also indicate that your HVAC system requires maintenance. For this reason, I recommend contacting a professional technician for a thorough diagnosis to ensure your system is operating safely.
Please feel free to reply to this post if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Daniel
