A/C breakers tripping

Anonymous

I installed my 3rd gen learning thermostat a couple days ago (pictures below of new and old thermostat wiring). It is not yet connected to the Wi-Fi so I’m just controlling it manually. The cooling works fine for a short while but then I’ll notice our a/c unit shuts off and the breakers are tripped. This has happened multiple time since installation and I had no problems with the old thermostat.

Hi Liamaio,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this. Are you getting any messages on the display of your Nest Thermostat? Also, please review the power reading of your Nest Thermostat by going to Settings > Technical Info > Power.

Thanks,

Edward

Thank you for following up. In the time I was waiting for a reply, I reinstalled our old thermostat. The weather was still warm here and I needed the ac to function properly. I was concerned about the tripping breakers. Anyway, there were no error messages and obviously I can’t check the power reading since I no longer have it installed.

Thank you so much. I have an HVAC person coming tomorrow for a general tune up, so I will know more after that.
