Adding a new zone with its own powered duct dampers

I have an HVAC zone that is currently controlled by a Nest thermostat. It covers both the upstairs and the basement. We are remodeling our basement and want to control the basement zone separately but run off the same furnace. We added a few powered ducting dampers in the basement, creating two zones. My HVAC guy says I need a Honeywell thermostat to run the new powered ducting dampers. Is there a Nest thermostat that would do that? The thermostat he is recommending is the Honeywell 4000.

Hi accessmark,

Thanks for reaching out to our Nest Community. We are so happy to assist you with your questions about the Nest Thermostat.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • Can you send me a picture of your control board? This information will help me to determine compatibility.
  • Could you please confirm if your wiring is low voltage?
  • Do you have a conventional or heat pump system?
  • Conventional System: Typically consists of two pieces of equipment (furnace and AC).
  • Heat Pump: Handles both heating and cooling with a single unit.

Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Kevin
