Am I supposed to use 2 apps for the rest of my life?

Google continues to sell the Nest Gen 3 thermostat and yet there is only very basic control in the Google Home app. There is also zero existence of the Nest Protect in the Home app also. I don't understand why they would want to continue developing two separate apps. Anyone have any insight on this insanity?

Google continues to work on bringing more products and features from the Nest app over to the Google Home app. Slightly dated now but this is definitely what was announced.
