Last week my Nest thermostat came up with a new schedule for cooling the house. Our peak electric pricing is 4-9 pm, and the updated schedule chose to pre-cool the house at 2 pm and set the temp to about 80 at 3 pm. Then at 7 pm it bumped the temperature back down to 76 and activated the A/C... during our peak electric pricing hours.
It also added two adjustments during the day that were 45 minutes apart and 2 degrees difference (12 pm at 78 degrees, 12:45 at 76 degrees).
Why would it do this? I had to go through the entire schedule and clear it out, then reprogram the times to make more sense.

Hello RCS,
Thanks for reaching out to our community.
I understand how confusing it can be for your thermostat to turn on when you don't want it to. Let's see what could have happened.
Have you changed the mode of your thermostat lately (e.g., heat, cool, heat/cool)? Nest thermostats have a different learned schedule for each mode. Since your thermostat has been learning for a while, it has settled on a schedule. However, your thermostat will never stop learning unless you turn off the auto schedule.
Now that you've reset the thermostat schedules, it will be sensitive to each change you make. Remember, the schedule it had could have been learned from consistent sudden changes in the set temperature. So, be mindful that changing the temperatures manually somewhat consistently can affect the schedule.
Let me know how the schedule reset goes. If you happen to notice more sudden changes in temperature after a while, we can take a closer look at what could have happened.
Regards,
Angel.

This is the one and only thermostat I've had for the last 6+ years.
I'm just going to turn off the auto-learning since it seems to not understand what I want. This system knows where I live and knows when our rates are most expensive. I see messages about a Rush Hour all the time when it's hot.
