Away Routine not working when I leave home

Not sure of the category but cannot understand how this is supposed to work. I leave home, the app indicates that I’ve left, it’s been 40 minutes and the routine doesn’t start until I manually put my settings on Away

Hello kmauzoul,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear you're facing issues with your Away routine! It seems like there might be a delay in the automation. Check if there are any specific settings or permissions needed for the app to trigger the routine automatically upon leaving.

Here are some suggestions that might help troubleshoot the issue:

  • Ensure that the location settings on your device are enabled for the app. Sometimes, delays in recognizing your departure could be due to inaccurate or delayed location updates.
  • Check if the app has permission to run in the background and refresh its data. If it's restricted, the app may not be able to detect your change in location promptly.
  • Verify that the app has all the necessary permissions, not just for location but also for background activity and any other relevant settings.
  • Make sure that both your app and device are running the latest software updates.
  • Some devices have battery optimization features that can affect how apps run in the background. Check if the app is exempt from battery-saving settings to ensure it functions properly.
  • If the app uses geofencing to determine your location, be aware that the accuracy of geofencing can vary. Experiment with adjusting the geofence radius to see if it improves routine triggering.
  • Experiment with different scenarios, such as leaving home and returning, to see if the routine consistently behaves as expected. This can help you identify patterns or triggers for the issue.

Remember, the specific steps may vary based on the app or device you're using. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
