My nest was connected to my app and working fine. We lost electricity 3 times one morning and now it wont connect to app. When I go through setup the app says the nest is already connected and stops. I cannot delete the device. How can I get it connected again?

Hi Valmont1,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that after losing electricity 3 times, your Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) won't connect to the Google Home app. Thank you for providing important details such as the message you are getting on the app every time you try to set it up. Also, it is important to know that you cannot delete the device. No worries, help is here.

Before I start further troubleshooting, let me ask you a few questions:

  • Could you please confirm which Nest Learning thermostat model you have? For your reference, you can check out this article on How to tell which Nest Thermostat you have.
  • Is your Nest Learning thermostat showing as offline in the Google Home app or on the thermostat display?
  • Are you controlling your Nest Learning thermostat from the Google Home app or the thermostat display? If you use the Google Home app, is your mobile device connected to a different WiFi network than the thermostat?
  • Are other non-Nest devices in the home offline?
  • Has there been any recent change in the home Wi-Fi network?
  • Just to clarify, could you please let me know if you cannot delete the device from the app or in the settings on the thermostat to disconnect it from the app?
  • Did you get any error code message when you tried to connect your Nest Learning thermostat to the Google Home app?

Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
