My boiler keeps coming on randomly very late at night and outside of water setting times( twice a day) I’m can’t work out why it’s doing this. If anyone can help it would be appreciated . Dozz.

Hi folks,

@Houptee, thanks for the help!

Yes please. @Houptee thanks for the help also. Ive no idea what a c wire is and haven’t been able to pin my plumber/electrician ( the installer) down to ask him. The boiler is just turning itself on late at night. Different times, random nights. So yes, still need to know why this might be happening and what i need to ask him to do to stop it as its clearly not understood amongst some installers. Thanks for your help. Dozz

Hi Dozz,

Thanks for the response. Is your Nest Thermostat showing that it's heating when your boiler turns on automatically?

Thanks,

Edward

No, the heating is showing as off when the boiler is firing up randomly, late at night. Thanks Dozz.

Hi Edward. Apologies for lack of response as been away for a few days, but still very much have this problem. I’m new to this sort of forum. The thermostat base has one white wire in the back of it when i take off the front.  I can’t actually work out how to load up the photograph which is embarrassing but not sure this google format is an easy one either. Hopefully you will be able to help me further. Thanks Dozz.

Hi Dozz,

Thanks for the update. It's unusual that you only have 1 wire connected on your Nest Thermostat. Could you tell which terminal is the wire connected to?

Thanks,

Edward

Hi Edward. I am so so confused. The nest thermostat is sat on a base and just plugged into the wall and connects to the app. If I take it off the base, behind it on the back of the base, is one white fixed wire. Thats all. I dont understand the terminal comment at all. Upstairs  by the heating tank there is a square box with the light on. I am assuming then that it is this you want me to take the front off maybe to see the wires behind? But thats not what i understand the “thermostat” to be. Please put me out of my misery. Unfortunately I’m away again for a few days so cant take pictures. Thanks for your patience. Dozz.

Hi Dozz,

Thanks for the response. Could you also share what type of Nest Thermostat you have? Also, where are you located?

Thanks,

If you pull the Nest off the base take a picture of the wires connected and post it here.
