Please investigate what happened with Sonos when they moved to brick older, but very functional entertainment system hardware, dependent on connectivity software they were dropping. Rightly so, there was outrage. They saw the light and provided a legacy app that continues to provide functionality, Bricking by dropping support is the stuff of reputational damage, brand damage and the death of customer loyalty. Maybe you can do good, here, Google. Please do better. A start would be a full reason why you *must* do this (do the controllers spontaneously explode)? Failing this, please provide a legacy-product app for continued support. Failing that, you have committed a cynical move, and your product will not be sought after ever again by this user - and, judging by the comments, I am not the only one. So very disappointing.

I agree. Do they really think I will buy another one of their products after discontinuing support for a perfectly good thermostat? How long will support for the new one last? Honeywell, here I come!
