I moved into a home with a Nest thermostat. The previous owner has deleted it from her account. I did a factory reset but I can't get it connected to the Google home app because the prompts keep asking me which wires I have. How is this relevant? It's already installed; I just need Google Home to recognize it. I don't know what wiring system it uses and can't get past this stumbling block to connect up my thermostat and it's supposed to be hot tomorrow. : (

When you do a Factory reset, everything in the thermostat is deleted, including which wires are connected.
You need to pull the front off and enter which terminals have a wire inserted.

Hi Patrick,
Wondering if you could help with my issue - I had purchased a Nest Thermostat sometime ago (not the Learning model, or the E...just the new sleek Nest Thermostat). It asks me to setup through the Google Home App, however, after I get to the point in the app to discover the device, I select the serial number, and then it resets back to the home screen of the Google Home App. It doesn't proceed to the next step of setup. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a bug in the Google Home app that needs to be fixed?

Thank you! I just assumed the app was in error without even trying to look for the wires in question. This resolved my issue! 😊
