Central Heating Issue

theblarney
Community Member

Hi,

We have recently been having an issue where the radiators in the house are burning hot even though the heating setting was set to low.

Yesterday the hot water and heating were set to off (not on schedule) and all night I could hear the boiler firing and central heating pipes banging as the heated up and cooled.

I have been doing some googling and so far have done the following:

  • Replaced the 3 port valve
  • Replaced the motor head
  • Ive factory reset the system and set it up again
  • Turned off the bacteria setting
  • Checked for updates

The only way I can stop it is to turn the boiler off at the consumer unit.

Any advice would be appreciated,

Hello theblarney,

I know it's been a while, and I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. Let's see what's going on.

A few questions: could you please tell us the type of Nest Thermostat you have? Please share with us a picture of your thermostat's wiring. Also, from what country are you posting?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hi there,

I wanted to follow up and see if you are still in need of any help. Please let me know if you are still having any trouble from here, as I would be happy to take a closer look and assist you further.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the delay.

I think the issue is resolved, some how the thermostat on the tank had been changed to 30c degrees so I think the relays were fighting against each other and with the bacteria setting was all in a mess.

Ive now changed this and seems to be fine.
