Charging a Nest 2nd Gen Thermostat

I have a Nest 2nd Gen thermostat that has been connected and working properly for approximately 5 years. Recently my app has been telling me that the thermostat is offline and when I check the thermostat there is a message about a low battery. I have searched for solutions to this and I have reset the thermostat, and since there is no C-wire I have pulled the thermostat off the wall to charge it through the micro USB port.  However I get no blinking green light that indicates that the thermostat is charging. I am assuming that I need to replace the battery, but maybe there is now another issue since I get no indication that it is charging.

Hey dwpawluk,

Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat. Let's check on it further.

I'm afraid that you can't replace the batteries for the Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat. To confirm, you tried charging your 2nd generation Nest Learning Thermostat it with a USB cable and wall charger and not to a computer's USB port, right? If yes, have you tried to move it to another wall outlet or to use another cable just to cover all our bases? If not yet, please give it a shot then let me know how it goes.

Best,

Melba

I am having the same problem. I have tried multiple chargers and multiple outlets.
