Connecting 2nd phone to Nest thermostat

Keefster
Community Member

Help,I'm going insane trying to connect my wife's phone to the new Nest. We both have Gmail accounts, I've tried literally all I can... I've installed  Google Home and Nest on my wife's phone, then from my phone, invited her, it tells me that the invite is sent...but where does it go?  Google Home, Gmail.com??,

That doesn't work, so... I try by using the Nest App on her phone, scanned the QR code...that gets as far as trying to connect to thermostat and then fails eventually.  Tried without scanning the QR znd entered the 6 digits off the back of the thermostat and then it asks to enter the last 4 digits of the serial number.. but you can't type them in cos the keypad doesn't come up...

This is torture...does anyone have a clue what I can do please

Thank you

@Keefster

Did you use the Invite Home Member function in the Google Home app?

Did the person that you invited accept?

Invite members to a home
  1. Open the Google Home app
  2. Switch to the home you want to share.
  3. At the top, tap Add + > Invite home member > Invite person.
    • If you don't find "Invite home member," tap Add person to home.
  4. Enter the name or email address of the person you want to invite to your home > tap Next.
  5. Review what’s shared when you add someone to your home > tap Next.
  6. Review the person’s access to your home > tap Send.
  7. If your Google Family Group isn’t full and the person you’re inviting isn’t already in one, you should get the option to invite them to your Google Family Group.
    • To invite them, tap Add to Family.
    • To skip this step, tap No Thanks.
    • Note: You can have up to 6 members in a Google Family Group.

The person you invite should receive an email with instructions.

Note: If the person you want to invite has already requested to join your home, you need to accept that request instead of sending a new invitation.

Accept a home member invitation
  1. Open the Google Home app .

  2. On the home screen, tap on your pending invitation.
  3. Follow the in-app instructions to join someone’s home.
    • To accept, tap Next.
    • To reject, tap Decline.
  4. Review what’s shared when you join a home > tap Agree.
  5. Create a nickname for the home. This nickname only appears to you.
  6. The next time you connect to the home’s Wi-Fi, open the Home app  to finish Google Assistant setup, which adds you to the devices connected to the same Wi-Fi.

Hello folks,

I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

I appreciate your efforts in sharing the steps, @Patrick_Caezza.

@Keefster, she should receive a notification on the Google Home app and an email invitation on her Gmail account itself. How's it going? Were you able to do the steps above? I'd be glad to hear from you — we'd like to make sure everything is working.

Regards,

Mark
