Connectivity issues

Having to migrate to google home, however, once we get to the step that requires us to "Choose the last 4 characters of your device's serial number", it is blank without any options to choose from.  How do you populate the list?  I have the serial number, but I cannot advance through setup until we can get past this step.  I have factory reset the thermostat, checked and rebooted all my internet service devices and still nothing.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Could you please tell us what type of Nest Thermostat you have? Also, uninstalling and reinstalling the app might help.

I appreciate the link you provided, @David_K.

Best,

Jenelyn

Thanks David, it looks like a Nest generation E (it is white and about 5 years old), but it doesn't have a stand and is attached to the wall.  When I remove the faceplate, there are a number of inputs that resemble the 'low voltage' design as depicted on the help identifying your model page.  also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the phone and I still have the same connectivity issue.

Can you clarify something from your original post, what do you mean by "having to migrate to Google Home"? The model of thermostat you have must be setup in the Nest app?

yes, it was on the nest app originally, but at some point we had to move it to google home for some reason, when or why I do not really remember.  Maybe I just need to leave it on the nest app.  For some reason I was thinking I had to migrate to google home.  Perhaps this model isn't compatible?

Nest Thermostat E must be setup in the Nest app. When you install the thermostat in the Nest app, the thermostat should automatically appear in the Google Home app if you’re using the same account in both apps, using the same home structure, and have assigned the thermostat to a room in the Nest app.

Hey there Kristianity,

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like I can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread in 24 hours unless I can help out with anything else.

Cheers,

Dan
