I have a learning thermostat, AC and no separate dehumidifier. I have been away from home for more than 10 days. The humidity has been climbing steadily in my home. It has been over 65% for most of the last three days and it went to 71% this morning. Temperature has remained at or below the eco set point of 85 degrees. Why has cool to dry not turned on the AC to try to reduce the humidity?
I just changed the eco mode set point to force the AC to run for about 15 minutes. Humidity dropped to 57%. I was expecting the Nest to run the AC when the humidity exceeded 65%.

Hello Jersey42,
I’m sorry for the trouble this has caused you. Let me help you out. Just a few questions: Does your air conditioner not have a dehumidification mode? Did you check if Cool to Dry is On? Here is a link on how to change the settings for Cool to Dry.
I look forward to your response.
Best,
Edmond

Yes the cool to dry setting is on. Not sure what you mean by "Does your air conditioner not have a dehumidification mode?"
The AC has no special mode for dehumidification. I expected the Nest to turn on the AC when the Nest was in Away mode for more than 3 days and the humidity exceeded 65%. If I manually turn on the AC, the humidity drops about 10% in 30 minutes.

Hi there.
Thanks for the information. When you're home, Cool to Dry will turn on the air conditioner if your home's humidity rises above 70% and cooling is off and If you're away, and your thermostat is set to Eco Temperatures for three days straight, Cool to Dry will turn on the air conditioner if your home's humidity rises above 65%. Have you tried doing a factory reset on the Nest thermostat? Here is a link on how to do a factory reset on your Nest thermostat.
I look forward to your response.
Thanks,
Edmond

Hi there,
Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.
Best,

As I said previously, I am away from home. Not sure how to facrory reset the thermostat without physically being there. For now I have just lowered the temperature setpoint to force the AC to come on occasionally.
Also, once I return home, how will I know if the factory reset works. Do I need to be on away mode for 3 days before cool to dry turns on the AC at 65% relative humidity? If I am home with the AC, running normally, the humidity will never get that high.
I appreciate your suggestions, I am just confused on how to implement in my situation.
