I have a 3rd gen learning thermostat with a new Goodman two stage heat pump. It seems that every time cool to dry kicks in… the fan turns on but the compressor doesn’t run. I tried resetting my thermostat and did notice on the app it said “dehumidifying”, but after that only “cooling” with the water drops. To use the whole home humidifier do I need cool to dry enabled? Does cool to dry only use the dehumidification mode sometimes as needed?

Hey Jonnymcc,
Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Google Nest Community.
Your Nest thermostat’s Cool to Dry feature gives you more direct control of your air conditioner’s dehumidification mode. To know more about how your thermostat work with your air conditioner's dehumidification mode, please check this link: https://bit.ly/3yo33YJ
Hope this helps.

No, thank you. I had read that article but I was continually having frequent short cycling with my nest thermostat. I switched to another brand thermostat and my short cycling problem is gone.
