Disconnecting existing device from former owner

I just moved into a house with an existing Nest thermostat. I was able to get the device connected to our new internet/wifi service, and I created a new Nest account, but I am unable to add the device to my account. Online instructions say:

 
"On your thermostat, go to Settings, Account, Disconnect."
 
But there is no "Account" option on this device.

Based on the information you provided, could you please tell me the model of your Nest Thermostat so I can guide you through the correct troubleshooting steps?
