Display Time

Is it possible to have the newer Nest thermostat display the time and weather as its main display, when you walk by or if you press the side of the device?

Hi Outlast,

Thanks for reaching out. I believe you're pertaining to the Farsight feature on the Nest Learning Thermostat. Farsight is a function available on the Nest Learning Thermostat (NLT) that will allow you to view information on the thermostat display from a distance. By default, Farsight is set to On and displays the target temperature. Also, there's an option for you to change the display to show the ambient temperature, time, or current weather.

You can follow these steps to activate it:

  1. Go to Settings and then Display.
  2. Select Farsight.
  3. Turn the thermostat ring to select what Farsight can display. To deactivate it, select one of the options from the Don't use Farsight section: Wake on approach or Wake on pressing.

Best,

Jenelyn

Is farsight only available on the Learning thermostat or all Nest Thermostats?

Hello everyone,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for your help here, Jenelyn.

@Outlast, yes, that's right. The Farsight feature is only available with the 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat. But it appears that you might have the Nest Thermostat 2020 model. But we're always looking for ways to improve, and we'd appreciate it if you could share your feedback.

Also, here's an article about the things that Farsigth can show you. Let us know if you have more questions.

Regards,
Mark
