Do i really need a Nest account/app to use the Learning Thermostat or can i just use the Home app?

So yeah. I'm wondering if i can use just the Home app to control the Learning Thermostat without setting it up with the Nest app (thus not needing a Nest account). While browsing, i noticed some people having problems with their Nest account and Google account having migration and/or sync issues causing thermostats to disconnect or disappear from Home app setups. I don't want to have to deal with that on top of potential installation/hardware errors.

I understand i can at least setup the thermostat on it's own for local manual setting and connect to WiFi to at least update it's software.

Also, I'm not sure, but do i lose some remote funtionalities when using only the Home app? Which functionalities are exclusive to Nest app, if any?

The Nest Thermostat E or Nest Learning Thermostat can only be installed in the Google Nest app, and when installed, it should therefore appear AUTOMATICALLY in the Google Home app if you are logging onto both apps with the same Google account and are accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure" and you have assigned your thermostat to a "room" in the Google Nest app:

I don't know which functions are available in each app for each thermostat.

You should be able to use the same "home" and "rooms" you have set up in the Google Home app in the Google Nest app, as long as you are logging onto both apps with the same Google Account. The Google Nest app does not create a new "home" instance and will recognize the one you have. You do not have to delete or reset anything.

There have been a few customers who've posted in this forum that their thermostat failed to automatically appear in the Google Home app after installing in the Google Nest app. One reason is if they fail to assign the thermostat to a "room". Several other customers have been able to get their thermostat to appear by creating a temporary second "home" in the Google Nest app, then going to that empty second "home" in the Google Home app and deleting it. This apparently causes the 2 apps to sync.

What if I already have a home and rooms setup in the Google Home app? WIll the Nest app make another home instance or will it recognize the one i already have setup in Google Home app? Do i need to delete/reset something? Should i expect some sync problems with that?
