Don’t buy Google Nest from SoCalMarketplace

Don’t buy GoogleNest through SoCal gas  Marketplace. The QR Code is blurry and there is no code on the box—how sketchy!!— so you can’t set up the product. Nevermind that it has you start on GoogleHome (which you have to download and give all your life’s info to them), but then they take a pause and tell you to do the first part of the set up through the Nest App, which you now have to download and set up. Fine, downloaded that, too, and then give them all the information. Next, the set up then tells you to finish set up back in Google Home. Really people? Can’t you find a little bridge to your crap? Fine. Then, you go to set up and it wants you to scan the QR code. Okay , but it’s so blurry that I even got out a magnifying glass to see if it gets more clear. Nope. So, if you try to continue and bypass that by putting in a key on the box, well, there is no key code on the box, and nothing on instructions. It’s not the manual QR code, it wants a 7 or 8 digit key code of numbers that I can’t access. No one wants me to return it to “their” facility and Google —who gave SoCal Gas Marketplace a disconnected phone number to print on their invoices— wants me to go online to see if I qualify for a PiN so I can talk to someone. Way to discourage folks! My question is how do I get my money back for this piece of sketchy junk? I don’t even want to install another one because a company is only as good as their service with their product. Unfortunately, this blurry Nest sham product gets zero stars.

Even though the box was taped shut at one end that looked secure, one of the battery covers was missing and the other askew. The Nest had a message on the front in about continuing on n the Google Home app. I just thought the device came that way, do another disappointment with the Nest. The device was shipped through Enervee with a rebate from SoCal Gas Marketplace. They don’t accept returns, but when I called, apparently the devices get shipped back to Nest to be checked out. Well, they let this disaster slip back into circulation. Shame on Nest.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced after getting this device. I can see that when trying to set it up in the Google Home app, you encountered that the QR code was too blurry and the app didn’t detect it. In order to receive further assistance, please fill out this form with all the necessary information, like the thread title or link and your username in the community. Once you've completed the form, let me know. Someone from my team will contact you shortly to help.
