Electricity bill is higher since installing.

I am noticing a much higher PGE bill and can't seem to figure out what is causing it. I reached out to my energy provider and nest support, neither were very helpful.  The nest support said that I should add a schedule for when I want the AC to run.  Its a learning thermostat so it's supposed to do that on its own, but it isn't. I've checked my settings and its turned on. I have a feeling this is user error but I don't know what I'm doing wrong! I thought leaving it in ECO mode and just adjusting when we are home or not was the best thing but that doesn't seem like it is.

Hi JDIETZ,

Thanks for posting in the Community! Sorry to hear that the ECO mode feature in your Nest Thermostat isn’t working as expected. No worries, help is here! I’d like to ask you a few questions to gather more information:

  1. What Nest Thermostat model do you have?
  2. Have you tried performing a Factory Reset?
  3. When you leave home, does it switch to Away?

Here you have an article related to Nest Home and Away not working, it contains some troubleshooting steps you can try. Also, here you have this article that explains How Nest thermostats learn.

Keep me posted.

Regards,
Axel.
