Emergency Heat mode 3rd gen thermostat

Cold weather heating with heat pump. I want to use Aux heat all the time in winter but there is no Emergency Heat mode. Compressor lockout works below 32 degrees but often the outside temp displayed on the thermostat is 10-15 degrees higher than actual and is causing the compressor to be used when I don't want it to be. Anyone figured out how to get EM working(s/w update?) or do I have to live with this? I unplug the compressor but when it thinks it's above 32 deg outside it just blows cold air.

I just installed my Nest Learning Thermostat yesterday and I found the same issue. Try this setting: go to Settings, About, Equipment, Dual Fuel and slide the temp slider to the right. There you will find Always just past 50 degrees. Conversely, sliding the slider to the left will find Never just past 10 degrees.  I assume your “Emergency Heat” is gas or electric or similar.
