Endless loop of please attach nest thermostat display to base and then remove from base and reattach

My original learning nest thermostat display lost its capability to connect to wifi so Google ordered me a replacement. Right now, I'm using the old thermostat, it still works, just not the wifi part. I got the replacement display in and connected it to my base, but it's stuck in an endless loop of please attach nest thermostat display to base and then remove from base and reattach. I've tried restarting it and it does the same thing. I read somewhere that there is possibly something wrong with my base plate that is on the wall. If that truly was the issue, wouldn't my old thermostat not work? I can see all my equipment, control heat and air, set a schedule, etc with my old display on the base. To me, if something was wrong with the base plate on the wall, the old display shouldn't work either. Is something wrong with my replacement display instead? I'm coming here for help/advice because I can't find any forum post with this specific issue. Any help is appreciated!

Hi cajunbean,

Thanks for letting us know. I'm sorry for the trouble this has caused you. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: in what country are you located? Could you please provide your case ID number? I'd like to review it. Please inspect the 20 pins at the back of your Nest Thermostat display. Also, ensure that your wires aren't pushing your thermostat display away from its base.

Best,

Jenelyn
