Energy Rush Hour is a joke.

  • I am away from home and have my 3rd generation Nest thermostat set for ECO mode between 62F and 83F.  Today I got an alert of an "Energy Rush Hour" because very high temperatures are expected at home. I was shocked to see that my high temp setting has been changed from 83 DOWN to 81. This is stupid!!! Our hydro supplier is worried about brownouts and my nest thermostat has reacted by lowering the ECO temp.  If my air conditioner comes on because of this I will be paying peak energy rates when I shouldn't be paying for anything.  This Energy Rush Hour scheme is a joke.

Hi Peter1003,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially with the 'Energy Rush Hour' feature automatically lowering your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) Eco mode settings. I can imagine you're concerned about the AC potentially running and incurring peak rates while you're away.  No worries, I’d be more than glad to help you!

To help you with this, could you let me know if you would like to cancel your participation in the Rush Hour Rewards program?

I appreciate you sharing your experience and your thoughts on this issue. Your feedback is important, and it helps us continue to improve our products for all of our customers. Please submit your comments directly using this feedback form.

I look forward to your reply.

Best regards,
