Fan run time Options

For over 5 years I have been sending in Emails to Nest and writing letters on this forum with no response from Best or Google which owns Nest. I have been trying to get one change made to the software for years with nothing. It just goes to show that Nest/ Google could care less about it's customers as long as you keep using and buying their products. I was told time after time, email after email that my suggestion would be forwarded up to the programmers and would hopefully be added. I was told time after time to put my suggestions on this forum and if my suggestion is liked them it would be added. So I did that and my suggestion was liked numerous times and still nothing.. So here I am one last time to get this simple change made in a Software update. I am asking you Nest/Google to once and for all, listen to your customers and make a simple software update. The update I am requesting is to make options available for Fan run times. Before I purchased my Nest thermostat, I had a Honeywell which would allow me to select how often the fan turns on and for how long it runs. This was called the circulation feature. It allowed me to have the fan turn on Every 1,2,3,4,5,6 hours etc. and I could choose to have the fan run for 5,10,20,30,60 minutes or just constantly on. The way you currently have it set up, we can only choose to have it run for a minimum of 15 minutes every hour which means the fan is only off for 45 minutes every hour. Please give us the option to change how often the fan comes on. For example, I would like to set my fan to run for 15 minutes every 2 hours in the winter and every 3 hours for 10 minutes. That way the air in my house gets circulated but the fan isn't running every hour. Please after 5+ years of asking, can you please make this change??? After all Honeywell has had this option for over 15:years...

  • I agree with your proposed programming change in the blower run-time control.  I can't seem to get my blower to turn off after a cooling or heating cycle.  I am used to having the blower run for ten minutes after a cooling cycle and five minutes after a heating cycle.  Like a person's heartbeat, I use the cycling of the blower to let me know that everything is running as it should be and to gauge the overall efficiency of the unit at a given ambient outdoor temperature.  A quick or extended run cycle - from blower on to blower off - and the elapsed rest time between cycles  The run and rest times can let you know a lot about how the system is working.  If the blower never shuts off, I begin to imagine problems where none might exist.  A little more control of the fan run-time would be a great help in monitoring the health of the HVAC system.
