I set my filter reminder at 750 hours… I got a reminder notification… I wanted to look at the settings and when I click notifications, filter reminder… it just says “Air Filter Reminder”
then:
“Reminder to change your HVAC system air filter”
that’s it… no toggle to turn it off, change hours, etc.
no change after restarting the app and restarting the iPhone. It worked last month…

Thermostadt is the nest learning thermostadt 4th edition
That feature worked fine 1 month ago, I have not tried it until the day of the post a few days ago
Google Home App
I have tried on an IPad as well, same issue, same app.

Same issue here. I got a notification, bought a new filter, and now cannot change the filter notification. Worked before, doesn't work now.

Mine isn’t working on. Nest E and a 4th Gen
09-02-2025 09:37 PM
I am convinced it is a bug... hoping they will do an app update...
09-02-2025 09:58 PM
Both my thermostats apparently are affected
09-03-2025 06:13 PM
I have the same issue. Gen 4 thermostat. Selecting Air filter reminders has animation that looks like you selected it but nothing happens
09-03-2025 08:08 PM
Having this same issue, just noticed it this evening.

Wonder how long before a fix is issued. I assume it’s gonna have to be a home app update

Wow, at 11:30am Phoenix, Arizona time, my mac beeped with an alert (mirroring an alert from my iphone), to change my filter...same as the one I got mid to late August when I first noticed this bug. I went to the Iphone, clicked the alert and boom! It took me to the alert screen and all of the functions were there...I could turn alerts on and off (the toggle), choose the month the filter was last changed, and change the hours I want the alert to be triggered by.... the app however is the same version....so they must have done something on the back end...

@ Vulcanccit that’s strange because I just had an app update!!!! Guess what, it still didn’t fix it lol on an iPhone 15 running the latest iOS
09-04-2025 01:17 PM
I just checked my app and it still is broken! So whatever I clicked on looked like it worked! Wow so weird!
09-04-2025 03:57 PM
So is it still broken or working? 🤷♂️
09-04-2025 04:27 PM
Sigh, still broken..when I clicked on that alert, it opened the app, took me to the settings that you would expect. ...then @swtxtitan posted that theirs is still broken. I checked mine again and it was still broken...so they really have something that is messed up....

dagnabbit! Sit and wait....

I just installed my new 4th Gen to replace my second Gen. The filter reminder doesn't do anything on my Google home either.
09-05-2025 09:02 PM
Safe to say it’s broken. Are we the only ones on the planet that care? Lol you would think it would be patched in 24hrs or less. I mean it’s a big part of having a “Smart” Thermostat. It’s crazy to think 5-10 people on the interwebs are the only ones complaining. Thanks Google !!
09-06-2025 11:41 PM
The app just updated, but the filter issue still remains 😞

I used to have a nest 3rd 2nd and 1st Gen thermostat and have loved and used the filter reminder feature. I recently upgraded to the 4th Gen and this no longer works. When I go to notifications there is a option for Air filter reminder but it does not do anything when clicked. I talked to Google who said that I was given a demo model. I talked to the installer who verified this was not the case. I'm very frustrated. I've tried enabling this on my android phone, tablet and my wife's iPhone and tablet with no luck. I loved this feature. Please advise?

Yep I saw that earlier. I was hoping a second post would raise more attention to it
09-08-2025 02:30 PM
I have the same issue.
09-08-2025 06:11 PM
Exact same issue
09-08-2025 06:13 PM
And on 4th gen doesn't have a way to set the reminder on the device itself. BTW - I only had to upgrade to 4th because I had a 1st gen that was going to be no longer supported. Not sure why it is so hard to support hardware that still works especailly since they can push new firmware onto the device.
09-09-2025 04:49 AM
Same here. Gen 1 was EOL so I I upgraded to Gen 4 but the option in the app to set filter reminders does nothing. Does it work for you?
09-09-2025 05:51 AM
Still broken in my end
09-08-2025 09:51 PM
Same issue here on 2 thermostats
09-09-2025 06:34 AM
Same issue here.
09-10-2025 09:25 AM
Chiming in here - same issue on my new Nest 4.
09-10-2025 11:57 AM
Still broken
09-10-2025 01:22 PM
Same issue here, clicking the "Air Filter reminder" option under Notifications in the Google Home app doesn't do anything. It gives feedback like you clicked it but doesn't take you anywhere. Definintely a bug. Please fix!
09-10-2025 06:24 PM
OK, just to give you guys a quick update. If you have a filter reminder in the Google home app under the bell icon, if you click on it, it will allow you to set your filter to reminder. You can’t do it under notifications because of the bug currently. But if you get a reminder, you can click on the reminder and set the month filter was changed. Also, I can confirm that the reminder itself is still working as well

Just tried mine again and now it works!! I clicked “Air Filer Reminder” and lo and behold, it opened up the option to turn on notify and when my filter was replaced. Odd, since I did not do an app update, but it works for me now! Yay!
09-10-2025 06:41 PM
Both of my thermostats are working again. I guess we raised enough cane to get somebody to get it fixed 😆
09-11-2025 08:48 AM
Both of mine are working again as well. I also did not update. After my initial troubleshooting, I didn't do anything more to fix it, so I'm sure the problem was on Google's end. Either way, I'm happy that it's now working again.
09-11-2025 11:19 AM
Same here… mine is WORKING again!!! Whew! Nest users Unite!!! Lol
