Gen 2 thermostat question

I got notice my Gen 2 thermostat won't have support at the end of October. It looks like it will still work but not remotely so I have to be home. Am I reading that correctly?

You are correct, you'll still be able to control the thermostat in person using the controls on the thermostat iself.

If you can purchase a 3rd generation thermostat I can confirm that it will work with your existing 2nd generation heat link.

The experts on here always said that it would be the case, despite the Google employee telling me that it wouldn't.

I have 2 Gen 2 thermostats and never received discount notice email , Does anyone know how to apply for discounts on new units?
