Gen4 Wiring Problem

I currently have a 3rd Generation Thermostat and am replacing it w/ a 4th Generation Thermostat (G4CVZ).  However, the wiring is completely different.  On the 3rd generation I have 10 options (Y1, Y2, G, O/B, Rc, W1, W2Aux, C, *, Rh).  However, on the 4th Gen all I have are  6 options (Y, C, W, G, R,*OB).

I have the following wires plugged into my 3rd Gen (Y1, G, O/B, W1, W2Aux, C, Rh).  When I plug this into the installation app it says that my Nest is incompatible.  Did I get the wrong Nest?  How can a 3rd Gen work and now a 4th Gen does not?

Hello @timberlakeb

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand you are having trouble replacing your Nest Learning Thermostat (3rd gen) with a Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). It sounds like you've encountered a compatibility error in the Google Home app because the new device only has six terminals, unlike your previous thermostat. It's a pleasure to help.

Based on the details you provided, it appears you may be trying to install the standard Nest Thermostat rather than the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen). This model has fewer terminals and may not be compatible with your specific wiring configuration. To confirm which model you have, please refer to this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.

If you wish to use your current wiring configuration without modifications, the Nest Learning Thermostat (4th gen) is likely the correct choice, as it includes the additional terminals required for your system. You can verify your wiring compatibility by using our Compatibility Checker.

If you have more questions, please feel free to write in this post.

Best regards,

Daniel
