Google Nest Thermostat

I had a 2nd gen Nest thermostat for a few years and liked it alot. When Google notified me that they were discontinuing support for the older gen devices I got the 4th gen. Worst mistake I could have made. I have animals in the house and keep coming home to a house at 79 or 80 degrees. I have done everything the forums suggest and it still continues. Today when I got home it was hot and I immediately went to look at the thermostat. It had temp set at 82, which why it would ever do that I have no idea. While I watched it it changed to 70 and started cooling. The current temp was 79 inside. I will be telling everyone I can to stay away from Nest thermostats! This is just ridiculous.

I have had that same issue with both of mine

I just read they are discontinuing support for older models and you won’t be able to use remotely

for that alone I am not buying another of their products and hopefully my next t stat will do what i ask

Hi folks!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen, especially since the temperature keeps changing. I understand how difficult it must be when your device is not working as expected. I appreciate your efforts in taking those steps before. I'm happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • Could you check if you have a schedule set on your thermostat? Here is an article that can help you verify: Nest thermostat temperature schedules.
  • How frequently does this happen (e.g., daily, a few times a week)? Is there any pattern to when it happens (e.g., at specific times of day, after you leave the house, or overnight)?
  • To avoid suggesting something you've already tried, could you tell me what troubleshooting steps you've attempted so far?
  • Is the Google Home app up to date?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
