Google Nest learning thermostat

My battery on my Google Nest thermostat has died twice now. Both times when we were away an we come home to an ice cold house….50 deg. F.  I want to replace the battery but the Google Help says to replace with 2 AAA. My battery is nothing like that! Very frustrating!

Look like you have the Nest Learning Thermostat, 3rd Gen, or the Nest Thermostat E. Neither of these has replaceable batteries.

The batteries sold online will not work as they are the wrong size and voltage.

Hello folks,

I'm dropping by to see how I could help.

Thanks for your input, @Patrick_Caezza.

@Gordawn, we don't suggest replacing the Nest Learning Thermostat or the Nest Thermostat E's built-in batteries, as it might damage its hardware and affect its function. But I'd love to know more about why you're opting to have it replaced. Is your thermostat not holding a charge? Could you please check its power readouts in the Technical Info settings? Also, does it have a common wire?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
