Google nest c wire adapter

I got the nest thermostat from my son this last summer. I have a A/C , Heat pump, and Auxiliary Heat. It's all electric new blower and condenser installed 2021. I ran the A/C having no issues with the battery running low.

But now that it's winter the battery kept dying and having to charge it by USB. I purchased the C wire adapter. Because my unit doesn't have C wire nor a circuit board. The thermostat wires are connected too the other wires by wire nuts. I followed the instructions and watched videos. Just reinstalled it four times now. The nest never recognized the C wire adapter.  If someone could help me figure this out it would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post a picture of the connections in the furnace/air handler?

Also, can you post a picture of its manufacture and model number?

Most of the time the installers will leave the installation manual with the unit. Post a picture of its front cover if you can.

Hi @Jaybird82

Thanks for reaching out to the Community! I noticed that you're having trouble with your Nest thermostat's battery dying in the winter, even after installing a C-wire adapter. You've reinstalled it multiple times, and the Nest thermostat isn't recognizing the C-wire. I understand how frustrating this situation can be, but don't worry! Let me help you with that!

Before we continue, I need a little more information to provide you with more accurate steps:

  • How long did you charge the device?
  • Did you notice any error messages on the thermostat?
  • How long ago was the thermostat installed?
  • Did you notice any power outages in your area recently?
  • Are there any lights on your device?

Once you have this information, I will be more than ready to assist you!

Best Regards,

Debora
