HVAC is heating instead of cooling when I installed Nest gen 3

I installed a gen 3 thermostat and followed the wiring exactly as described in the installation process. My HVAC system was using a Honeywell thermostat with GWYR wires. When I finished setting up, the HVAC started throwing out hot air when it is supposed to be in cooling mode. I'm not sure what step I missed. Any help is appreciated

Hello bobbychetal,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.

Incorrect wiring configuration could be the reason it activates your heating unexpectedly when calling for cooling. To check this, is your system a heat pump? Also. Can you share with us a photo of your old thermostat and Nest thermostat wiring?

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,
Mark
