Heat boost and holiday function

Bridgemaster

And while Google are sorting out a boost function for heating why don’t they also provide a holiday function like Hive does?  My Hive allows me to set holiday start and end dates/times in advance. My GF’s Nest requires her to put heating in eco mode, turn HW off separately and then remember to turn them back on before she comes back from holiday.  Not easy when on a long flight even if you do remember.  Nest is primitive compared to a Hive

Hi there, thanks for reaching out! There is the Home/Away Assist that senses when you've left your home and puts the thermostat in Eco, and it also senses when you get back and puts the thermostat in Heat Mode. Otherwise you can also put the thermostat in Eco from the app, just as you said. I'll make sure to pass your feedback further and it will surely be taken into account. If you have any other questions, me and my colleagues are always here to help.

these features would be OK (alebit a little basic) if they worked! but my home / away assist has a mind of its own! https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Thermostats/Home-Away-assist-errors-EXPENSIVE/td-p/35928...

HI there @tjfox, thanks for reaching out. Let's continue the conversation on the thread that you sent us the link to.

Hi Paul. Thanks for your reply which I have just read out to my GF who has the Nest.  We are both bemused by the reply.  Your suggestion gives the same result as if she didn’t have a nest but flipped a switch to turn the heating on when she got home. What’s the point in that?  When people come back from a winter break the want to arrive back to a warm house so the heating needs to come on BEFORE she gets home, not afterwards.  If you have a Nest yourself, try switching to a Hive and you will see the benefits of its holiday mode as well as the flexible and easy ‘boost’ facility that allows me to control the temperature and duration of a heating boost.

The goal of my suggestion was to recommend the feature of the thermostat that has the closest resemblance to the vacation mode that you said you have on the Hive. The Nest Thermostat does not have that specific feature, but as stated previously I've passed the feedback to the senior department and it will be taken into account, but I cannot promise that a similar feature will be added. If there's anything else I can help you with, let me know.

thanks Paul. I think a boost facility is just as important so please press for that to be added too
