Heat link replacement

IanM2
Community Member

Hi Woke up this morning to no heating. Thermostat showing error H71 checked heat link and no lights on turned boiler & heat link off and back on and still no lights on heat link.

Checked voltage on heat link receiving 240v so appears heat link needs replacing, seems to be a common problem. Had a look online but can't find anywhere to get one. Anyone had any luck.

Thanks

Ian

Hey @IanM2.

I'm sorry to hear this issue has occurred, but I'm here to help if you still need it.

If you have not already make sure to double check all breakers and switches to make sure nothing has tripped. Also check the boiler as it can have a separate isolation switch sometimes. Confirm the boiler has power, it should have a LED or display that turns on.

If it all looks good try and power cycle the Heat Link, if you're comfortable in doing so. Turn the power off to the Heat Link for a few minutes and then turn it back on. See if it has any reaction when you press the button on it after.

Hi AnaM

The boiler is working its a combi boiler and we have hot water there is power going to the heat link. I have checked this with a multi meter. The only other connections are to terminals 2 and 3 witch is the swith to make the heating work. I have wired these into a separate switch and the heating works so it's definitely the heat link that is not working.

Hey @IanM2. Thanks for the details. Could you also help me with some answers to these questions?

How long has your thermostat been installed for?
Did the issue happen during the installation?
Is there any error on the Nest thermostat display?
Have you had any power cuts recently?
Have you had any work done on your electrical or heating systems recently?
If yes, was the power properly restored at the fuse board after work was done?
How many zones ( thermostats ) are present in the setup?
