Heat randomly drops while Nest is still on.

We've had our Nest Learning Thermostat 4th generation for about a month now and almost daily the heat drops while the Nest is on and within the scheduled temps. Almost every morning I have to turn off the heat mode, then turn it back on for the furnace to start. We have a forced air furnace with central air that the Nest is connected to through a Google Nest Power Supply. I've double and triple checked the heating schedule and settings with no success. I'm almost at the point of switching back to my old thermostat. Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hi robverner,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th Gen and the heat randomly dropping. I understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected. But don't worry; help is here. I just need to ask for some information to provide the best solution:

  • Who installed the thermostat?

  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?

  • Did you select the correct fuel type during the setup process?

  • Does the thermostat screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?

  • What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.)

  • Could you please provide a picture of the current and last wiring configuration?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny
