had a new package unit installed in May 2022. Nest learning thermostat recently has not been heating the house. Is set to heat. Lights up orange. No hot air blowing.

Hi MediumJay,

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're having an issue with your Nest Thermostat. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  • How is your Nest Thermostat wired?
  • How is your previous thermostat wired?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Edward

Hi BradJones,

Thanks for sharing. I'd like to clarify what happened in your situation. Did you swap the Y and W wire? If the wires are still swapped, could you try to call for cooling and check if it's going to blow hot air?

Thanks,

Edward

I thought about trying that but didn’t want to mess it up

So turns out our 7 month old heater, which is part of a package unit, had a motor for the heater go bad. Not a nest issue at all. Thanks for the support EdwardT, and everyone here.

Thanks for checking in. I already updated the post. It was the package unit. Nothing to do with the thermostat. Thanks for your diligence. 😀
