Heating Trouble

DHarris4
Community Member

New build home and I installed the newest nest thermostat. Moved in the summer and everything worked fine with AC. I did notice the fan seemed to not be running though. Its starting to cool down and I realized that my heat is not kicking on. In troubleshooting I noticed I had my setting on forced air electric but should have been gas. I’ve made that change but still no heat. Any suggestions on how to get the heat to turn on?

Hi DHarris4,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I understand that your new Nest Thermostat is failing to turn on the heat, even after correcting the system configuration from forced air electric to gas. I appreciate your efforts in trying to solve this issue and confirming that the AC worked properly over the summer. No worries, I can definitely help you with this!

To better investigate this issue, I’d like to ask for the following information:

  • Could you please confirm the specific model and generation of your thermostat? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify your thermostat model.
  • When you turn on the heating mode on the thermostat, does the screen indicate that it’s actively calling for heating?
  • When was the last time that a maintenance service was performed on your HVAC system?
  • Did the heating work with the previous thermostat?
  • When was the last time you changed the furnace's air filter?
  • Would you mind sharing a picture of your current wiring installation?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
