Hello @irwinb
Thanks for reaching our to our Nest Community. I apologize for all the inconvenience. I'm here to help you with this wiring configuration.
I really appreciate you posting a photo showing your current thermostat. Sadly, your thermostat does not have labels or colors to identify the wire function. What I recommend is that you contact a technician who can identify these functions to determine if they are compatible with your HVAC system. It probably is, but for your safety, we suggest this to be sure of the wiring position.
Feel free to keep us posting if you have more questions. I´m here to help you.
Best regards,
Douglas.

thanks, beyond the wire function... can we tell from this photo whether it is compatible with 24V or if it's 110/220 V?

Hi, @irwinb,
Thank you for your reply. In this case, I cannot determine the voltage from the image provided. However, the voltage of your HVAC system wires is typically specified in the system manual. If you no longer have the manual, you can use a multimeter to measure the voltage of each wire. If you're unsure about using a multimeter, consider consulting a qualified electrician for assistance.
Please let me know if you need further help.
Best regards,
Ana
