Home/Away has stopped working as expected - keeps switching to ECO

My house keeps switching to Away and Eco even when I am home and the AC switches off. I have two Nest Thermostats, let's call them upstairs(for AC) and Downstairs (for Heat). Both are active for presence sensing, along with two Nest Protects. I do not use the phone geo-fencing.

For years this has worked with no issue, but sometime recently the Downstairs thermostat does not see me moving around and switches the house to Away mode. If I go upstairs and walk in front of the thermostat there it switches back to Home.

I tried the online chat and the bot says that this is a known issue in the forum, but I don't see this specific problem mentioned. Has anyone else run into this issue and how did you resolve it? It feels like it must be a recently introduced bug in the software and nothing has changed here.

Same problem here.  Have had to disable eco automatically setting when away for the time being.  Very frustrating!

Can you offer a temporary work-around. My HVAC situation is currently unsustainable because the home keeps going into away mode and turning everything off. I walk in front of the thermostat and it does not go back to 'Home'. I have to physically touch the thermostat to make it work.

I have tried turning off all presence sensing in the app and I get a pop-up saying "Request contains an invalid argument". I am this close to dumping my thermostats and going with a different vendor.
