Come on Google / Nest. The heating scheduler has no problem in multiple sessions per day at variable lengths. But why have you got such an inflexible GUI for hot water. Judging by the number of comments about this you have known about the problem for months if not years. By forcing hot water heating to be scheduled in 30 minute increments you are forcing your customers to waste money on heating water when it simply isn't necessary. For heavens sake, stop sending banal answers from people who can barely string together an English sentence and get on and do your job. If this can't be solved, quickly it would be a much better economic solution to go back to a mechanical timer which at current gas prices will pay for itself in about 3 weeks!

Hi there! Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry to hear that you're dissatisfied with the Hot Water scheduling function of the thermostat, but you can rest assured that I'll forward your feedback to the suitable department and it will be taken into account. Is there anything else I can assist you with at the moment?

NO. Just fix the problem! The NEST is costing me money! Every day!

I understand your concern. Me and all my colleagues constantly look out for feedback but keep in mind that neither me or my colleagues here can change how the thermostat works. Changes can only be done, if possible, by our colleagues in engineering.
Also do keep in mind that the temperature on a water tank is not controlled by the thermostat in the hot water schedule. This is done by a separate thermostat that is usually integrated directly into the hot water tank. So even if you schedule the hot water to heat 24/7, the tank should stop heating the water when the set temperature is reached so it won't actually be on 24/7. If the water tank can reach its set temperature in under the 30 minutes, it should be able to turn off even if the schedule is set to be on. It will only come back on if the temperature of the water drops below the set one and it is scheduled to be on.
I do want to thank you again for all the feedback provided and rest assured that if any update occurs to the functionality of the hot water schedule, we'll make everyone know on our official channels. I will go ahead and close this thread but do make sure to open up a new one or post on another of the open ones if they are on the same topic if anything else comes up.
