How do I know when the battery is fully charged when using a USB cable?

This has been asked a few times on here but a clear answer isn’t provided. The response will provide a link to ‘ nest thermostat technical info menu’ but does not describe any of there is any feedback from the device when plugged into the a usb/outlet. Will the green light become solid rather than blinking?

Is the lower power issue cured by adding the power module at the unit if a C wire isn’t available?

Hello Relempago,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.

The Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and the Nest Thermostat E don't have battery indicators to show the power percentage, as they do not usually need to be charged manually unless their built-in batteries have been drained. Having a 24 V common wire or the Nest Power Connector can help provide constant power to your thermostat and avoid power issues. Also, here's an article that describes the LED that flashes on their display.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Regards,

Mark
