Heat pump compressor is broken.  So we need to turn on Auxiliary Heat to heat the house.  How do I do that on my Nest Learning Thermostat?

Hello babsie,

I'm sorry to hear about the issue with your heat pump compressor. To activate the Auxiliary Heat on your Nest Learning Thermostat, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your Nest Thermostat and press the ring to open the main menu.
  2. Select "Settings" on the screen.
  3. Scroll to "Nest Sense" and choose "Heat Pump Balance."
  4. Adjust it to your preference. Increasing the balance setting will make the auxiliary heat come on earlier when the temperature drops.
  5. After adjusting the balance, press the ring again to save your changes.

Keep in mind that using Auxiliary Heat can be less energy-efficient, so it's advisable to get the compressor fixed as soon as possible. If the issue persists or if you are unsure about any steps, let me know.

Best regards,
Mark
