I have Nest learning thermostat gen 3 set up with a heating schedule. The thermostat is set to turn heating off at 10pm. It then goes into eco mode. If I am cold at 11pm I try to turn the heating on. The thermostat says it is in eco mode. I am given the choice of cancel, and not turning the heating on, or stop eco mode. I say yes to stop eco mode and turn the dial to 20 degrees. The heating comes on. At midnight I go to bed. I don’t want the thermostat to continue heating so I turn the eco mode on again. In the morning I wake up and the heating has not come on as scheduled. The thermostat is still in eco mode and the house is between 9 and 14 degrees. How can I heat the house in the night, when I want to, to stay warm; and have heating come on in the morning, according to a schedule, before I wake up, so it is warm in the morning too? Sorry if this is really basic but I cannot work it out.

Hi mellow,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. This doesn’t happen normally. Let's see what's going on. There are a couple other reasons why the Nest Learning Thermostat changes the temperature automatically, for example. If you recently turned off the auto-schedule, the previous setup might still be in effect. The same goes if you have already set up a manual schedule and remove it, there might be a chance that it will adjust the schedule accordingly. This is part of the Nest Learning Thermostat algorithm, but it can easily be fixed by starting fresh on the device. Resetting it and turning off the auto-schedule right away can do the trick. Follow the steps below:
Those steps will help us start fresh and clear out all the schedule and auto-schedule setup on the Nest Thermostat.
Once all steps are done you can go to manually setting up your schedule. Follow steps below:
1. Press your thermostat’s ring to open the Quick View menu.
2. Select Schedule .
Keep us posted.

Thanks RenzJ
I deleted my schecule and re-entered it to exactly the same settings as before, I think. Anyway, I can now turn the heat on outside of the schedule and the heating still comes on the next morning according to the schedule now. Interestingly, 'Behaviours when manually switching to Eco Temperature' https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9245535?hl=en-GB&ref_topic=9361874#zippy=%2Chow-eco-tem...
states that manually switching to Eco means it won't come on the following scheduled time. Now I am able to turn the heating 'off' by turning the thermostat dial to a low temperature or lowering the temperature setting in the app.
