I moved into an apartment with a Nest Thermostat already installed. It was still connected to the previous tenant’s app. After some research, I thought doing a factory reset would allow me to set it up on my app. Turns out, I missed a crucial step and did not take a photo of the configurations before doing the factory reset. I’m stuck because I have no idea how to set up the configurations correctly and my landlord has no idea because the Nests were already installed when they bought the property.
What can I do to correctly set up the Nest again? I am kicking myself for not doing more thorough research but this is my first time using a Nest and I had no idea how complicated it could be setting it up like this. Please help! I’d love to have my air conditioning working again 😭

Hello harrison1030,
Thank you so much for posting in this forum. I’m sorry to hear you accidentally performed a factory reset of your Nest Thermostat without taking a photo of the configuration details. I understand you’re worried about this situation, especially since you need air conditioning for your comfort. I'm happy to help you get it reconfigured.
I'd appreciate your help answering the following questions to gather further details and determine an optimal resolution.
What model of Nest Thermostat do you have? For your reference, you can consult this article: How to tell which Nest thermostat you have.
Could you please attach a picture of the control board of your HVAC system and the wires where you’re going to install the thermostat?
If you have any additional information that could be helpful, please let me know.
Best regards,
Daniel

Hi Daniel! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I was able to take a photo of the configurations on my neighbors nest device and I got it to work! We all live in the same building so it would’ve been the same configurations as my nest.
