I hate Eco mode but don’t know how to turn it off!

I have called customer service numerous times and watched a million videos but have not found a solution yet. My thermostat will either switch to eco mode or off if it thinks no one is home! I’m home all day with my kids but don’t always pass the thermostat. How do I disable eco mode or change my thermostat to manual! I have just the nest thermostat and only use the Google home app. Someone please help before I pull it out the wall!

Hello Alaina,

Thank you so much for posting in this community. I'm sorry to hear that the Eco mode is not working as you expect. Don't worry. Let me help you turn off the Eco mode.

To get a better understanding, could you please tell me what thermostat you are using?
With this information, I'll be able to provide you with accurate troubleshooting steps.

Keep me posted with this information.
Best regards,
Daniel

I have had the same problem you described and others have described regarding the inability to actually take control of my smart nest thermostat. I have figured out how to disconnect Eco Mode, and I have correctly followed every help video and instruction for disabling every single feature that can be disabled which has some sort of automated or “smart” component, and it’s clear that the Nest thermostat I’m using is too smart for its own britches and cannot be made un-smart (i.e. useful and not maddening.) I have come to absolutely despise technology that, under the pretense of “intelligence,” overtakes our living conditions and renders it impossible by design to override it. As soon as I can I am going to replace this thermostat. I would rather have an old beige mercury thermostat. At least is stayed where you wanted it and changed only when you wanted and how much you wanted. I have never fiddled with a thermostat so much in my life. Not even close. Isn’t smart technology supposed to SAVE us time and frustration? Okay, I’m sure Nest has saved us a few bucks over the years we’ve had it and have updated it to newer models. But it does so by jacking our air up to 79 degrees in the Texas summer just because no one walked past it for 5 minutes. And then it plummets down to 70 some hours later with no instruction for doing so. Same thing for night time. I have it set to the absolute bare minimum settings of “smartness” and it still does all this. I would rather set my thermostat to what I want and then turn it up manually when I leave the house. I don’t know who could possibly be satisfied with this product if they’re being fully honest. I know a few much older people who enjoy sitting in conditions that make me sweat, and they like it because of the money it may save them and because they are uncritical technophiles who just like the idea of having the latest thing. But for those who actually have preferences for how hot or cold it is in their house at a given time, this is the absolute worst product to have. Hands down.
