Installing nest thermostat

SandHill321

I just hooked up all the wires to the nest thermostat base and when I plug in the nest it doesnt turn on. At first i thought maybe I need to go and shut the power to the system on and then off to which that didn't do anything. After that I plugged in the USB port and waited about 15 minutes and now when I plug in the nest to the base it blinks a red light. Anyone have any help for me on what's going on?

Post a pic of the old original wiring, and pic of the Nest wiring.

Did you turn off the power before working on the wires?

If power was on and wires touched you possibly blew the fuse on the control board inside your furnace (if you have a furnace, you did not describe the type of system this is for). Most modern furnaces have a fuse like a car that plugs in on the board inside the furnace that is for the 24v system wires.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the input, @Houptee.

@SandHill321, I appreciate that you've tried taking some steps ahead. Could you please give it another shot after charging your thermostat display for an hour? Then, make sure that all wires are properly connected and the tabs are pushed down. Also, we would appreciate it if you could share with us a photo of your previous and current thermostat's wiring. This would help us identify if this could be a configuration issue.

I'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark
