Hello,
I have 2 nest learning thermostats that have been working for years. Recently the downstairs thermostat stopped charging and hence stopped connecting to wifi. Upstairs thermostat is fine. I charged the thermostat via usb- but only lasted one day. I took the upstairs thermostat and put it downstairs- and after a day the downstairs thermostat now has low battery and is not connecting to wifi. So it seems the thermostat itself is functioning fine but the faceplate/wiring on downstairs unit has issues. I have a furnace- forced hot air and central AC. My wires on plate look like they are fully inserted (Yellow wire to Yi/ White wire to W1/ Green wire to G /Red wire to Rc) Wiring is the same for both upstairs and downstairs. Of note- only the downstairs has a blue wire visible- but it is NOT connected.
Should I remove all wires and reinsert? Should I try the Blue wire to C in downstairs? Lastly could other part of faceplate be the issue-? pins etc) ?
Thanks so much for any help.

Hi Makash,
Sorry to hear about this situation with your Nest thermostat. No worries, help is here! The reason why it's running out of battery might be that you don't have a C-WIRE or a Nest Power Connector. Please connect it and see how that works. If it doesn't work, please fill out this form for further troubleshooting.
Regards,
Axel.

Thanks for responding. Tried connecting the C wire but it seems the blue wire is not connected ? to gas furnace, got an error on thermostat stating blue wire is not connected. So I don't have that option. It's odd that this worked for years, until now.

Hi Makash,
That is interesting! Have you tried connecting it to the furnace?
