Although my two Nest thermostats are on wifi, I lost the ability to monitor them from my I phone.

Hi @PreferAmazon4me,

Thanks for posting here in the community. I'm sorry to hear you lost the ability to monitor your Nest Thermostats on your phone even though they're connected to the Wi-Fi network. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • What Nest thermostat models do you have?
  • Are you using the Google Home app or Nest app?

In the meantime, let's check a few things:

  • Check Wi-Fi Connection: Ensure both your phone and Nest Thermostats are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Interference: Electronic devices like microwaves and cordless phones can sometimes interfere with your thermostat's Wi-Fi signal.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Melany

Thanks for responding and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, but I have been out of town.   I have a home in Illinois and a home in Florida, both having Nest Learning thermostats, 3rd generation.  I use the Google app to log in, not the Nest app.  I am currently in Florida and for some reason I have lost the ability to adjust either thermostat from my phone.  Both my phone and the thermostat are on the same wifi network.  What appears on my phone or my computer is the Home, Away, outside temperature and the + symbol to add a product.  If I attempt to add the thermostat, I get a message that the thermostat is already added.

I am thinking that I may need to log in and delete the thermostat and then add it.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi @PreferAmazon4me,

Thanks for the follow-up.

I suggest trying the following steps:

  • Disconnect the thermostats from the app: Go to Settings > Reset > Account connection. Follow these steps to Reset your Nest Thermostats.
  • Reconnect the thermostats: After the factory reset, you should reconnect the thermostats to your Wi-Fi network. Ensure a stable connection before adding them to the Nest app.
  • For more detailed instructions, you can refer to this article: Add your Nest thermostats to the Nest app.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Melany
